This archive review reflects the Peak Potential Adventures team’s experience with the Hoka Anacapa Mid GTX after extensive use on Australian trails including the Overland Track, Six Foot Track and Three Capes.
The standout quality was comfort. The boot felt light and cushioned underfoot, with little break-in required, while the GORE-TEX construction and Vibram outsole performed well across wet and uneven terrain. The team also liked the stable feel and supportive fit during longer walking days.
There were trade-offs. The quick-lace hooks could be fiddly, the upper was not as hard-wearing as a traditional heavy leather boot, and the price sat at the premium end of the market.
For hikers prioritising cushioning, low weight and immediate comfort, the Anacapa proved a strong option in our field use. This is a legacy review from 2022, so current model specifications, pricing and availability should be checked before purchasing.
