Kilimanjaro Charity Challenge Stories

A look back at PPA’s early Kilimanjaro charity challenges, the fundraising behind them and the personal stories that made the climbs meaningful.

Peak Potential Adventures’ early Kilimanjaro years were closely connected with charity challenges and fundraising, particularly for Make-A-Wish Australia.

The 2013 and 2014 teams included people who were climbing for personal reasons as well as to raise money for others. One of the standout efforts came from Mitchell Morley, who completed a 12-hour treadmill fundraiser before his 2014 climb and had raised more than $11,000 in the lead-up to the expedition.

Other team stories focused on what the challenge meant personally: ticking off a major life goal, discovering confidence, building lifelong friendships and returning home with a different perspective. The mountain became more than a summit target; it was a vehicle for fundraising, reflection and shared purpose.

These archive stories are a valuable part of PPA’s history. They show how the early Kilimanjaro teams combined a difficult physical challenge with community support and causes that mattered deeply to the people taking part.
