Emma Harrison joined Peak Potential Adventures on the inaugural 2013 Mt Kilimanjaro Charity Challenge and came away with lessons that reached well beyond the mountain.
Her story is less about technical climbing than resilience, teamwork and perspective. Over seven demanding days she describes how the group supported one another, how the mountain forced everyone to slow down and how difficult conditions stripped life back to the essentials.
Summit night became the defining moment. Feeling extremely unwell before the final push, Emma faced the possibility that she would not make it. She chose to continue one step at a time and ultimately reached the summit after a long, cold night.
What stayed with her most was not simply standing on top of Kilimanjaro. It was discovering a deeper reserve of determination, appreciating the people around her and returning home with a changed sense of what really matters.
